Fort Macquarie depot, was located adjacent to Benelong Park a very picturesque spot to sit and watch the harbour, this entire site is now occupied by the Sydney Opera House, (some will say an improvement while others ........the depot was constructed in the design of a fortress with castellated ramparts. This depot was in existence as an operational depot from 1902 to 1955. It provided trams for services on the
Fort Macquarie to Glebe Point.

This depot consisted of a 12 road shed, with loop line laid around the outside, unfortunately no remnants remain of this depot the buildings being totally razed for the Opera House. Entry to the depot and loop line was controlled from a signal box located adjacent to the tracks.
With the closing of Fort Macquarie depot on 22/10/1955 most of the services were transferred to Dowling St depot.
